Event Details

How do I support women as an entrepreneur without it being seen as preferential treatment?
How can I make it possible for more women to go into tech?
What can I do to give girls the self-confidence to pursue a job in coding if that is what they would like to do?
What can I do to be a good ally?

Whether they themselves are trying to find their footing in a male dominated field or trying to make it easier for other women to rise in the ranks of a company — the panelists of this event all work towards a common goal: Equal work opportunities for women and men.

They will share their experiences and discuss how to support women so they can have the careers they want.

Meet the panelists:
Laura Gaetano: Laura G.has been active in tech for many years, both as an organiser and a developer. Through her work she supports diversity, and not just gender diversity, in tech. She currently works for Travis Foundation, a non-profit initiative started by Travis CI and is the co-organiser of Rails Girls Vienna. She also studies “Transmediale Kunst” at the angewandte university in Vienna. Laura is Italian but has grown up in Vienna, where she moved when she was 13 years old.

Kelly Kaminski: Kelly is the co-founder and principal of Grip, an American design agency based in Chicago. She heads Grip’s Vienna office as the director. As one of (still too few) female entrepreneurs, Kelly is in a unique position to influence gender parity at her own company and to create a more equal work environment for women and men.

Ramón M. Huidobro: Ramón is a self-employed coder and a long-time supporter of women in tech in Austria. He actively supports projects like Rails Girls Summer of Code and runs his own Ruby learning group, which he organises with his sister. Ramón also studies Informatics at the University of Vienna. Originally hailing from Chile, he is now on his way to gaining Austrian citizenship.

Moderator: Andie Katschthaler (Grumpy Girl Communications)
