On Wednesday, November 28th we will be hosting a skillshare breakfast with the Founder and Managing Director of Potential Project and author of “Mindful Business” and “The Mind of the Leader”, Rasmus Hougaard. Potential Project is a global leader in leadership and organizational training programmes based on Mindfulness. Rasmus will be presenting the key-findings of the latest book “The Mind of The Leader”, which reveals how leaders can lead themselves, their people, and their organizations by training their minds.
By understanding how their own mind works and training it for the most essential qualities, leaders can lead themselves effectively first, in order to better lead their people and tap into their human need for meaning, fulfillment and human connectedness. The authors found that three mental qualities are essential to becoming effective leaders. Leaders must be mindful (being present and attentive to their people’s needs), selfless (to model cultures based on growth and learning instead of ego) and compassionate (show their people they have their back).
Key takeaways from the workshop are:
– Leadership begins with the mind
– The attention economy and distraction
– Training the mental muscle for more focus and clarity
– The neuroscience behind
– The benefits of mindfulness for yourself and at work
– Mindfulness, selflessness, and compassion – leadership skills for the 21st century
The proof that “self-leadership” works is not just in the author’s survey results but in the neuroscience they studied. Neuroscientists have found that by training their mind, people can actually change their brains. Physiologically, it is possible to change the structure of our brain by training our mind. When this happens, we can become more focused, kinder, more patient, or any other qualities that we train for. Simply put, what we do is what the brain becomes.
Agenda:
– Key-Note (Rasmus Hougaard)
– Business mental practices (Interactive mental practices – breathing, standing, dyads and group exercises)
– Q and A and discussion with the audience
– Book-table with signing (Mindful Business and The Mind of the Leader)
