July´s edition of our fabulous WineDown evenings will center around the topic of food. We’ll be learning about sustainable cooking, food waste, food production, and more from some of the most innovative startups operating in this space. The WineDown will take place in OBEN | Küche und bar, an amazing rooftop bar in the 7th district! Come and join us for this impactful evening while enjoying refreshing beverages and delightful dishes served at the venue along with a breathtaking view over Vienna!

Because we care about the food!
Nowadays, food is more than ever a critical topic at the heart of the debates and therefore we are putting this theme at the center of our WineDown. Various ventures with different backgrounds are invited to join the Impact Hub Vienna Community for this networking event, in order to connect diverse small-scale producers, food start-ups and larger distributors, with the bigger goal of informing and educating, initiating new collaborations, as well as increasing the overall awareness of alternative and/or healthier and sustainable food solutions and actors.
Every year 168 000 tons of edible food is being thrown away in Austria, which corresponds to 40 Kg of food in average being wasted per inhabitant in Vienna per year. Taking into account upstream process and transportation from raw material to final product, this represents a loss of about 300 to 400€ per household in Austria.
All this is of course without mentioning the significantly high amount of CO2 and toxic waste released throughout the overall production and distribution cycles…
