The Founder & Investor Talks organized by the Innovation Incubation Center (i²c) at TU Wien enable the audience to learn first-hand from experienced founders and investors. They share their international experiences, dos and don’ts and lessons learned during inspiring talks and answer questions in interactive Q&A-sessions. The talks are concluding with the possibility for networking with like-minded people accompanied by free drinks.

Talk #34: The Silicon-Valley-Mindset with Mario Herger

Silicon Valley is the most innovative region in the world, with many companies such as Facebook, Google, Apple, Uber, Airbnb or Tesla conquering markets and disrupting whole industries in our countries. They also force our legal frameworks to adapt, home grown industries to respond, which we often see as unforeseen changes that threaten us. But how is SiliconValley doing this? Is it the water, the air, or genetic differences? The answer is no, given that from German-speaking countries alone close to 70,000 people live and work here, often in leading positions. The difference is in behaviors that people show. In this talk we will dig deeper into what those behaviors are, how we can show them ourselves, and how we can combine them with our own strengths.

Mario Herger has more than 15 years of experience in corporate innovation in high-tech companies. As a consultant, he is working with them on their digital transformation, intrapreneurship and innovation programs. He is a technology and trend researcher identifying exponential trends. With his inspiration tours for executives in Silicon Valley, where he lives since 2001, he is helping them to understand the mindset and latest trends, guiding them through the network of innovators and entrepreneurs. Mario is an active entrepreneur, educator, mentor and keynote speaker at various conferences and events such as TEDxSanFrancisco, IEEE, Gamification World Asia, etc. He is the author of a dozen books (e.g. “The Silicon Valley Mindset”) and hundreds of blogs and articles including TechCrunch, Forbes or Der Aktionär.
