Bit’n’Block Academy – The Official Guide to Bitcoin and Blockchain
Cryptocurrencies are on the rise and have now even caught the attention of the big players. Despite their bad reputation, mentioned as being used for illegal activities, or called pyramid schemes, they are very interesting concepts and their underlying blockchain technology will have a great impact on our society in the years to come.
But what are the cryptocurrencies and that blockchain? Why is blockchain so important for cryptocurrencies? Is Bitcoin a scam?
Bit’n’Block Academy will help you answer these questions and understand cryptocurrencies and their underlying technology. During one weekend you will learn what cryptocurrencies are and understand how they work, how to store them safely, how to avoid scams and start investing (with focus on the infamous Bitcoin).
Bit’n’Block Academy covers topics like:
– Mechanics of Cryptocurrencies (e.g. private vs public key, wallet vs address)
– Blockchain Ecosystem (e.g. miner vs node, exchange vs mining pool)
– Trading and Storage (e.g. block reward vs transaction fee, cold vs hot storage)
– Security (1-2-3 rule; do’s and don’t’s)
– “Coin” Analysis and Valuation (coin vs token vs asset; cryptoassets valuation).
Our three main goals are to help you understand WHAT it is, HOW it works and WHY it is important.
This course is a joint education initiative brought to you by Bitcoin Austria (www.bitcoin-austria.at) and RIAT Institute for Future Cryptoeconomics (www.riat.at), both being well established and known for the highest expertise in cryptocurrencies and blockchain topics.
No prior experience is required, but appetite to learn about new technologies and their application is a must. All topics will be explained in simple terms, with practical examples. Technical jargon will be used only when necessary, and (in that case) introduced at a level understandable for all.
Kasia and Andreas, as members of Bitcoin Austria, have years of experience with Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. They have already organized various Bitcoin Austria Meetups and launched the first round of Bit’n’Block Academy in 2017. Their backgrounds are in informatics, software engineering, economics, and finance.
